If you run Microsoft CRM 4.0 on a Windows Server 2008 machine you may notice your “sessions” timing out too frequently.

This is due to IIS 7 assigning the default application pool “DefaultAppPool” instead of Microsoft CRM’s application pool “CRMAppPool” to all QoS-IT web applications.

Do correct this follow the procedure below.

  1. Open the “Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager” tool
  2. Expand the Connections tree until you find the Microsoft Dynamics CRM website.
  3. Expand the Microsoft Dynamics CRM website to the ..\ISV\ASK\QOSITV2 folder.

  4. Right Click the Dashboard (if available) application, select Manage Application –> Advanced Settings…

  5. The dialog below will appear. Select the Application Pool settings and click the “…” button.

  6. Select the CRMAppPool from the drop down box that appears and select OK. Click OK again and the Advanced Settings dialog.
  7. Go back to step 4 and do the same for the Web2 application.
  8. You may now close the IIS Manager tool.
  9. Select Start –> Run
  10. Enter iisreset and click OK.
